How do you remove acne using aromatherapy

Although acne is not a life threatening condition, it does have an effect on your looks and is an ongoing concern for many people.

Acne is usually caused by skin pores and hair follicles being blocked and so natural oils cannot be secreted causing a build up of bacteria which feeds on this oil and then multiply causing the problem to increase and spread. People who have oily skin have a higher tendency of developing acne as well as teenagers and those who are going through hormonal fluctuations. Some believe that stress is a contributing factor although this has not yet been medically proven.

How does aromatherapy remove acne?

Fortunately, there are a variety of essential oils available to help manage and combat the problem because many of these oils have innate properties which can help to control the underlying causes of the acne for example, they can decrease stress, balance hormones, improve the appearance of skin imperfections and regulate the production of oil.

Aromatherapy is therefore an excellent treatment for pimples, blemishes and other skin breakouts and commercial acne remedies have also come to realise this as they have began to incorporate essential oils as the primary active ingredients in their products such as Noxema which features eucalyptus oil which can simultaneously fight bacteria infection and reduce the skin's production of oil.

Essential oils which has anti bacterial properties applied to the problems area. It will encourage circulation and removing waste material. And essential oils will also cleanse the skin deeply and balancing the secretions of the sebaceous glands.

What are essential oils for acne?

When selecting essential oils for acne, you'd better to look for essential oils that has anti-inflammation, regulation and anti-bacterial properties are most preferred to aid the cure of acne.

Essential oils with attributes relating to anti inflammatory essential oils will help reduce the redness, the swelling of the affected areas and help ease pain as well. Below is a list of essential oils with this attribute:

  • Chamomile (Roman and German)
  • Clary Sage
  • Frankincense
  • Helichrysum
  • Lavender
  • Patchouli

Anti-bacterial essential oils are best to combat infection causing agents. Additionally this will help reduce the production of oil by your sebaceous glands and the essential oils with this attribute are as follow:

Essential oils with oil-production balancing properties may help curb the excessive oil production to normal levels.

Essential oils for acne credited to West Coast Aromatherapy

Aromatherapy and acne blends

Aromatherapy and Acne Spot treatment : 1/2 ounce kukui nut, 8 drops of lavender oils, 4 drops tea tree oil, 3 drops cypress oil, 2 drops helichrysum oil.

Combine the oils in a clean container and secure the lid of the container to avoid spillage. Make sure that the oils are mixed well by turning the container upside down. The blend may be applied to affected area a couple of times in a day.

Acne clearing facial steam: This formula is composed of a quart of steaming water, a drop of each clary sage and palmarosa essential oil.

After mixing the oil into the steaming water you may lean to the bowl after covering the back of your head with a towel to direct the steam to your face. Do this in approximately five minutes and make sure that you rinse your face afterwards. With this method you allow the warmth of the steam to let your skin pores open and so deep cleansing is easier.

Clearing Mask: 1 teaspoon clay, A teaspoon of water or honey and a drop of each rosemary and helichrysum essential oil.

Place all the ingredient in your palm and blend well. Apply the mask to the clean skin and leave it for 10 minutes. Rinse thoroughly

Blemish banishing aftershave : 8 ounces distilled water, 2 drops of sandalwood, 1 drop of cedarwood, 1 drop of vetiver oil.

Pour the water into a clean container with the essential oils. Mix the substances by turning the container upside down until the mixture is uniform. The mixture may now be used as a splash of aftershave. Make sure that the mixture is shook well before every use.
